Privacy
Your information, plainly.
What this site collects, why, and how to get it deleted. Last updated 09/23/2026.
The short version
- I only get your email address if you subscribe to Operator Notes or email me.
- The site uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are useful.
- I don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
- You can unsubscribe any time, or email [email protected] to have your information deleted.
What's collected and why
When you subscribe
Your email address, and your answer to the optional "I am…" question. I use them to send you Operator Notes and the 20-automations guide, and to understand who's reading. They're stored by Beehiiv, the service that sends the newsletter. Beehiiv may record whether an email was opened or a link was clicked.
When you email [email protected]
Your email address and whatever you write, used to reply. Messages go to me and to the member of my team who handles podcast invitations.
When you browse the site
Google Analytics uses cookies to record things like which pages you view, how you found the site, your device and browser type, your general location (for example, city or country), and actions such as scrolling, clicking a link, or downloading the guide. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without using cookies. I use this to see what's useful and improve the site, not to identify you. Email addresses are removed from page addresses before anything is sent to Google.
Behind the scenes
The site is hosted and protected by Cloudflare, which handles basic technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and block abuse. When you subscribe, Cloudflare Turnstile runs a quick check, usually invisible, that you're a person and not a bot, using information from your browser and device. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to fetch them.
Who else sees it
Only the services that help run the site: Beehiiv (newsletter), Google (Analytics and Fonts), and Cloudflare (hosting, email forwarding, analytics, and bot protection). Each follows its own privacy policy. I don't sell or rent your information. I would share it only if the law required it.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
How long it's kept
Newsletter information stays until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics' retention settings.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of any Operator Notes email.
- See or delete your information: email [email protected]. I'll respond within 30 days.
- Turn off analytics: block cookies in your browser, or install Google's free Google Analytics opt-out add-on, which stops Google Analytics from recording your visits on any site.
